Lakes

You lighten nouns when you speak,
hollowing out the pith, softly chipping

away with a small bone from the tall
grass, coyotes: floating water lilies.

You place them all clouds. You come
here, sit at the table, eat dinner, wildered.

You cast gazes. What is it about you that
lakes? What is it about you home?
